Who are we? |
Our close group includes professors, researchers and clerical
staff - people from different backgrounds and with different
skills. The TEDS team doesn't end here though; it extends to
include all of our families who take part in our important
work.
|
|
What do we do? |
With the input from TEDS families we are learning about many
aspects of childrens' development. The focus of TEDS is the
issue of nature (the characteristics we inherit from our
parents) and nurture (our environments such as home or school).
|
|
How do we do it? |
We are finding out how genes (nature) and the environment
(nurture) affect development by comparing identical twins and
fraternal (non-identical) twins.
Families have given us a wealth of information in
questionnaires, face to face visits and over the telephone and
now we hope to stay in touch over the web too.
|
|
How does this help you? |
If we can understand how and why some children differ in their
development we may be able to use this information to make the
job of growing up smoother for children, parents and teachers.

Supporting our families |
Please contact us if you have any
questions or comments about TEDS. We also have a web page of
links
to other web sites offering general support and advice for
parents and multiple-birth families.
